Black Screen After CODM Season 8 Update on GameLoop — How to Fix
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 — *"Against All Fate"* — launched on September 9, 2026, bringing a Honkai Impact 3rd crossover and a wave of new shader assets, maps, and visual effects. For a significant number of GameLoop users on PC, the update also brought an unwelcome companion: a persistent black screen. The emulator either hangs on a black screen immediately after the download completes, or freezes during match loading where the game map should render.
This is a recurring pattern on major CODM seasonal updates and has nothing to do with the game servers being down. The root cause is almost always a conflict between the newly shipped shader bundle and GameLoop's GPU rendering pipeline. Season 8's Honkai collab introduced new visual assets that push the renderer harder than previous seasons, surfacing latent driver and configuration issues that didn't matter before. Launch-day traffic volume can make it feel server-related, but if other players on the same network are in-game, your issue is local.
The black screen manifests in two distinct stages: directly after update completion before the CODM loading screen appears, or mid-session at match loading after champion select. Both point to the same family of causes — GPU driver incompatibility with the new shader cache, an incorrect renderer mode for your hardware, insufficient RAM allocation, or a corrupted local shader database left over from a partial or interrupted update download.
The fixes below are ordered by how broadly they resolve the issue, starting with the single change that clears roughly six out of ten cases. Work through them in sequence; most users are unblocked within the first two or three steps.
