# Android emulator no sound: audio fix for PPSSPP, Dolphin, RetroArch and more

Your emulator is running on Android but there is no sound — games play without audio, or sound cuts out entirely. Audio issues on Android emulators are more common than on PC because Android's audio system has changed significantly since Android 8, and different devices implement audio differently depending on manufacturer. The most effective fixes are switching the audio backend (OpenSL ES vs AAudio) and verifying app permissions.
