# Emulator audio delay, lag, or out of sync: fix guide

The emulator is running and producing audio, but the sound is noticeably delayed from the on-screen action — explosions sound after the flash, dialogue does not match the character's lips, or in-game music is subtly behind the video. Audio desync in emulators has two distinct causes: too much audio buffer latency (audio is queued too far ahead), or the emulator's speed is drifting so audio and video drift apart over time.
