# Game Not Saving on Emulator: How to Fix Auto-Save and In-Game Save Issues

Your game says "Data saved" but the save is gone when you reopen the emulator, or the in-game save option is greyed out. This is one of the most common emulation problems and the cause differs by emulator. The root issue is almost always a missing memory card / save device configuration, a read-only save path, or a confusion between in-game saves and save states.

Find your emulator below and follow the specific fix. If you are unsure which type of save failed, start with S1 (the save type explanation).
