Cannot apply keymap to BGMI in TAC — 'game not installed' error (India)
BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India — the India-specific variant of PUBG Mobile) is installed and runnable in TAC, but trying to apply a keymap via Smart Tool fails with the error "game not installed". Reported framing:
"i cant apply keymapping to bgmi it says game not installed"
Symptoms:
- BGMI launches and plays fine when started directly.
- Smart Tool's BGMI keymap option shows the game as "not installed" in its dropdown.
- Default touch UI works in BGMI but you want PC-style keymap.
Root cause: BGMI uses a different package name (com.pubg.imobile) than the global PUBG Mobile (com.tencent.ig). Smart Tool's package-detection looks for the global PUBG package and doesn't auto-detect BGMI's India-specific package.
Solutions
solution #673
Install PUBG Mobile Global alongside BGMI to satisfy Smart Tool's detection, then apply BGMI manually. Workaround that works:
- In TAC, install PUBG Mobile Global from Play Store (or via APKPure if Play Store is blocked).
- Don't run PUBG Global — just leave it installed.
- Open Smart Tool → it now sees PUBG as installed.
- Apply Keymap (Smart Tool writes the keymap binding to the keymap database).
- Open BGMI directly (NOT via Smart Tool's Launch button).
- BGMI inherits the keymap because the binding logic doesn't actually validate which package is running — only that one PUBG-family package exists.
solution #674
Manually copy keymap to BGMI's package directory. If installing PUBG Global isn't an option (storage / region restrictions):
- Apply a keymap via Smart Tool to any other PUBG variant first.
- In TAC's file manager, navigate to
/Android/data/com.tencent.ig/(where the keymap landed). - Find the keymap configuration file (usually a .txt or .xml).
- Copy that file to
/Android/data/com.pubg.imobile/(BGMI's package). - Restart BGMI — it picks up the keymap.
solution #675
Get a BGMI-specific keymap from the community. If neither workaround works for your config, ask in #en-support-pubg-mobile for a BGMI-specific keymap file. Indian community members maintain BGMI-targeted keymap variants that bind directly to com.pubg.imobile.
