CODM Play Store download <1 mb/s despite fiber + stutter FPS drops
Two unrelated-but-often-co-occurring issues that block CODM playability in TAC:
1. Slow downloads: Play Store downloads of CODM (and CODM in-game asset updates) crawl at under 1 mb/s even when your internet otherwise downloads at 25 mb/s+. Reported framing:
"holaa, las descargas de la playstore o en el codm no me van ni a 1mb/S cuando tengo fibra contrattada y todo lo demas me va como a 25mb/s la descarga"
2. Stutter FPS drops: Frame counter shows decent numbers (60-90 FPS) but gameplay feels jittery — micro-stutters every 2-5 seconds make aiming and movement unplayable.
"otro problema que tengo son los stutter fps, probe miles de cosas y me va fatal, todo el rato drops. Me va fluido pero por los drops es injugable"
These are commonly co-occurring because both stem from TAC's network engine + graphics compositor competing for system resources.
Solutions
solution #650
Switch DNS to Cloudflare 1.1.1.1. ISPs in many regions silently throttle Google CDN endpoints — that's where TAC's downloads route. Cloudflare bypasses ISP DNS rewrites:
- Install Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 from one.one.one.one.
- OR set DNS manually in Windows: Control Panel → Network → adapter properties → IPv4 → DNS Primary 1.1.1.1, Secondary 1.0.0.1.
- Restart TAC.
- Retry the download — should now use full bandwidth.
solution #651
Disable all in-game overlays for stutter-free gameplay. The stutter pattern is classic overlay-injection contention:
- Win+G → Game Bar settings → uncheck "Open Game Bar..." everywhere.
- Discord → User Settings → Game Overlay → toggle OFF.
- NVIDIA GeForce Experience → Settings → uncheck "In-Game Overlay".
- AMD Adrenalin → uncheck "Metrics Overlay".
- Logitech G Hub / Razer Synapse → disable any in-game overlays.
- Restart Windows.
- Test — micro-stutters should disappear.
solution #652
Switch Windows to High Performance power plan. Balanced power plan throttles CPU/GPU clocks during inter-frame intervals, causing exactly the stutter pattern users describe:
- Settings → System → Power → Power mode: Best Performance.
- For laptops: also plug in to AC and disable Battery Saver.
solution #653
Cap FPS to your monitor's refresh rate +1. Running 120 FPS on a 60 Hz monitor produces tearing that feels like stutter. Match FPS to monitor:
- 60 Hz monitor → cap FPS at 61
- 120 Hz monitor → cap FPS at 121
- 144 Hz monitor → cap FPS at 145
Smart Tool → FPS dropdown → match monitor.
solution #654
Use a US-server VPN specifically during downloads. If DNS change doesn't fix the slow download, the bottleneck is geographic CDN routing. Connect to a US VPN, retry download. Disconnect after install completes.
solution #655
Pause Windows Update during gameplay sessions. Windows Update can run background download/install operations that compete with TAC for disk and network bandwidth, causing stutters every few minutes:
- Settings → Update & Security → Pause updates for 7 days.
- Test gameplay.
