CODM stuck on splash screen after resolution change — Shader Preload fix

After changing the emulator's resolution to match desktop resolution (commonly 1920×1080 or higher), CODM gets stuck on the splash screen with the title artwork visible but no progress bar moving. The emulator remains responsive but the game never proceeds to the main menu.

  • Splash screen shows the CODM artwork with the soldier logo.
  • No progress bar, no timeout error, no hang detection.
  • Restarting the emulator alone doesn't fix it — splash screen reproduces.
  • Restarting the system doesn't fix it either.
  • Waiting "few minutes" doesn't help — Tectønic confirmed unresolved after 1+ hour.

Solutions

solution #530

Run Shader Preload from inside the game. Per skuny's community fix:

  1. Force-close CODM and the emulator.
  2. Restart the emulator.
  3. When CODM relaunches, look for a dialog titled "Shader Preload?" with the body:
"Shader Preload can effectively reduce lag in-game. Note: During the preloading process, you cannot perform other operations except cancel. This can take 2–5 minutes according to your device. Preloading will restart if you exit early."
  4. Click Start. Wait the full 2–5 minutes — exiting early restarts the entire process.
  5. After preload completes, the game will reach the main menu and resolution will be applied properly.

The splash-screen-stuck state is caused by missing shader cache files for the new resolution. Without preload, CODM's renderer keeps trying to compile shaders during the splash transition and never reaches the menu.

solution #531

If Shader Preload doesn't trigger, revert resolution to default first. Some configurations require shader files at the original resolution before they can be regenerated for the new one:

  1. Emulator settings → resolution → reset to default (usually 1280×720).
  2. Launch CODM, reach main menu.
  3. Quit CODM cleanly via the in-game menu.
  4. Change emulator resolution to your desired value.
  5. Relaunch — Shader Preload dialog should appear automatically.

solution #532

Launch via the Smart Tool's "Launch CODM" button. The Smart Tool sends a kill-all signal first, ensuring no stale renderer process keeps the splash screen pinned. Open Smart Tool →
