CODM movement 'locks up' / direction keys delay — TAC input lag fix

While playing CODM through TAC, WASD movement feels stuck — pressing forward (W) sometimes doesn't register; the character appears to be moving but stops; or the direction "locks" and the player has to mash the keys to recover. Multiple users describe the same pattern across English and Turkish channels:

  • "yes, it 'locks up' in a sense. I need to stop and mash some of the WASD keys to be able to move normally" — localizationkey
  • "keyboard and game have so much time differences that's why performance is very bad in this emulator. Some times when we use direction keys then its feel like its going on another direction" — DeenaNath_YT
  • "codm yönlerde ara ara takılmalar oluyor tekrar tekrar yön tuşlarına basmak zorunda kalıyorum" — ✨ÊxØ✨ (TR)
  • Movement gets "sticky" mid-firefight, costing engagements.

Root cause confirmed by ӃryptønPsychø: "that's a TAC problem because, CoD:M isn't officially added to TAC yet." TAC's input handler isn't tuned for CODM's specific touch-event polling rate, so quick directional changes sometimes miss the interpolation window.

Solutions

Solution 1

Lower the emulator FPS target to 75 from 120. Counter-intuitively, lower FPS sometimes resolves the lock-up — the input handler has more time per frame to register direction changes. Per Dusk's experience: 120 FPS unusable, 75 FPS smooth.

  1. Open Smart Tool.
  2. Set FPS to 75 (or 90 if your PC is high-end).
  3. Click Apply FPS.
  4. Relaunch CODM.

Solution 2

Try playing with a controller mirrored from a phone instead. ӃryptønPsychø's deeper recommendation: TAC's WASD path may never be fixed because CODM has no official TAC support. A long-term workaround for serious players is to mirror your phone screen to PC and use a Bluetooth / wired controller directly on the phone — this bypasses TAC's input handler entirely.

Solution 3

Test LD Player as an alternative emulator. Per ӃryptønPsychø's comparison: "I'd say a bit smoother on the camera movement & WASD because LD Player has their own default CoD:M 'smart' keymap set, but just for MP & BR." LD Player's input handler is tuned differently. Drawback: account ban risk is higher on LD Player than on TAC. Read our GameLoop vs TAC vs LD Player comparison guide before switching.

Solution 4

Acknowledge: this is a vendor bug, not a config issue. Per leonmaxitv1: "that's a TAC problem because, CoD:M isn't officially added to TAC yet." Until TAC officially supports CODM (no announced timeline), expect intermittent input lock-ups regardless of settings. The fixes above mitigate but don't fully eliminate the issue.
