CODM cursor stuck in middle of screen after applying keymap
After applying a keymap and launching CODM, the mouse cursor appears as a normal Windows cursor pinned to the center of the screen. Moving the mouse moves the cursor instead of the in-game camera, making aiming impossible. Common framing in support requests:
"How do I control this? My cursor is in the middle. How do I move around with the mouse if that makes sense — I did apply the keymaps."
Symptoms:
- WASD movement works correctly.
- Mouse cursor visible at center, won't lock to camera.
- Pressing right-click sometimes shoots but doesn't ADS / aim.
- "Bende fare takılıyor" — the same complaint in Turkish (Meyrixa, Ekvator).
Root cause: the keymap is applied but mouse-look isn't bound to the aim button, OR the user hasn't pressed Ctrl to enter the camera-locked mode that TAC requires for FPS-style aiming.
Solutions
Solution 1
Press Ctrl in-game to lock the mouse to camera control. This is the canonical fix per leonmaxitv1:
- Once you're in-game (in the lobby or in a match), press Ctrl on your keyboard.
- The Windows cursor disappears and mouse movement now controls the camera.
- Press Ctrl again to release the lock if you need the cursor back (e.g., to click menus).
This step isn't called out in TAC's onboarding flow — it's an unlabeled toggle that confuses every new user.
Solution 2
Make sure you selected the right keymap for the game mode. CODM has separate keymap files for Multiplayer (MP), Battle Royale (BR), and DMZ. The MP keymap won't include the BR-specific scroll-wheel binds. Open Smart Tool → Apply Keymap → choose the MP / BR / DMZ keymap matching the mode you're about to play.
Solution 3
If pressing Ctrl doesn't lock the cursor, the Ctrl binding overlaps another button. ӃryptønPsychø's diagnostic: at higher resolutions some keymap layouts overlap the Ctrl button position with another control element. Fix:
- In the emulator's keymap editor (TAC's in-emu editor, not Smart Tool), find the Ctrl keybind.
- Move it slightly to the right or left of its current position so no other button shares the same touch zone.
- Save and re-test.
Solution 4
Always launch through the Smart Tool, not directly. Direct CODM shortcut launches can skip the keymap-binding handshake. Per GameisLife's TR community fix: "hocam cod' direk açmayacaksın, tools üzerinde sağ üstteki cod Launche ile açacaksınız, o zaman CTRL sorunu kalmıyor." Open Smart Tool →
