GameLoop Black Screen on Launch — Fix for Windows PC
MediumGameLoop
GameLoop opening to a black screen — either immediately or after the loading animation — is one of the most common issues on Windows 10 and 11. The emulator process starts, but nothing appears in the main window except a solid black frame.
**Why it happens:** GameLoop runs a small Android virtual machine using a hardware-accelerated graphics layer. If the graphics driver, DirectX, or Windows composition layer has a conflict with the virtualization engine, the VM starts but its display output never reaches the window. A black screen is almost always a graphics rendering or driver conflict — not a download or account issue.
**What you'll see:** GameLoop window opens (you may hear audio or see a mouse cursor change), but the interior stays black. This is different from a crash (window closes) or a freeze (window stops responding).
Before starting: verify whether the black screen is only in the main GameLoop client, only in a specific game, or in all games. The fix path differs.
| Symptom | Most likely cause |
|---------|-------------------|
| Black screen in GameLoop client only | Renderer conflict (OpenGL/Vulkan) |
| Black screen in one specific game | Game settings or asset issue |
| Black screen in all games | GPU driver or DirectX version |
| Black on first launch, works after restart | Startup race condition — Fix 1 |
