Google Play Store stuck on 'Checking info...' for 30+ minutes

When trying to sign into the Google Play Store inside TAC to download CODM / PUBG Mobile, the loading dialog gets stuck on "Checking info..." for 30+ minutes. Eventually the dialog times out with "Couldn't sign in now."

  • "hey so i got playstore to open but ive been stuck on this screen for like 30 mins" — caesarsalad
  • "its saying couldnt sign in now" — same user, follow-up
  • "every time i want to login to google play it says couldn't sign in any fixes?" — S 🇯🇲 ITO

Root cause: TAC's Google Play container sometimes can't complete the OAuth handshake when the host machine's outbound IP doesn't match the region configured in the Google account, or when the Google sign-in endpoint's certificate chain is blocked by DNS / firewall.

Solutions

solution #551

Connect to a US VPN before retrying sign-in. The most reliable fix when sign-in keeps stalling:

  1. Connect to any reputable VPN with a US exit node (Cloudflare WARP works, free tier is enough).
  2. Once VPN is active, restart TAC.
  3. Open Google Play Store inside TAC.
  4. Click sign-in — the OAuth handshake should now complete in 10–20 seconds.
  5. After sign-in succeeds, you can disconnect the VPN — the session token persists.

solution #552

Switch your system DNS to Cloudflare 1.1.1.1. Some ISPs hijack Google's auth endpoints with custom captive portals. Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 bypasses ISP DNS rewriting:

  1. Install Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, OR
  2. Manually set DNS in Windows network adapter settings: Primary 1.1.1.1, Secondary 1.0.0.1.
  3. Restart networking + TAC.

solution #553

Skip Play Store entirely — install CODM via APKPure. If sign-in remains broken after VPN + DNS, install the APK from a third-party mirror:

  1. On your Windows host, download CODM APK from apkpure.com (or APKMirror, similar reputable source).
  2. Drag the APK file into the TAC emulator window.
  3. TAC will install the APK directly without needing Google Play.
  4. Launch CODM — Tencent's own login flow handles authentication, bypassing Google.

Caveat: APK installs miss Play Store auto-update. Re-download the APK monthly to stay current with CODM patches.

solution #554

Install Arena Breakout first — its sign-in primes the OAuth state. Per leonmaxitv1's community trick:

  1. Download the Arena Breakout installer (it ships with TAC's auth-prep flow).
  2. Install Arena Breakout, run it once, reach the login screen, then close it.
  3. The Google Play OAuth state is now primed for TAC.
  4. Open Play Store again — sign-in should complete normally.
