New GameLoop Beta Setup for COD Mobile: Clean Install and 1.0.57 Update
This guide sets up the new GameLoop beta from a completely clean start, then updates Call of Duty: Mobile to the version the servers actually accept. It is written so you can follow it even if you have never opened these folders before.
Old emulator files left on your PC are the main reason the new build misbehaves, so all of them get removed first. After each step there is a quick check, so you always know whether to carry on or fix something.
About this build: it runs on Tenstore Android Connect with the old GameLoop look on top. If you used TAC before, it will feel familiar.
Before you start: you need a Google account, because the game gets updated through the Play Store. If you have custom keymaps you want to keep, copy them somewhere safe now, the cleanup deletes them. Keep the COD Mobile Smart Tool installed, you need it twice.
Close GameLoop completely
Clicking the X does not close GameLoop. Background programs keep running, and uninstalling while they run leaves stuck files that break the next install.
Open the COD Mobile Smart Tool and click Kill GameLoop. That closes all of it at once.
Check: open Task Manager and make sure nothing with GameLoop, Tencent or Android in the name is still running.
Uninstall the old programs
Press the Windows key, type Add or remove programs, and open it. Uninstall these if they are in the list: GameLoop, which older installs show as Tencent Gaming Buddy, Tenstore Android Connect, and Call of Duty Mobile if it appears as its own program.
Do them one at a time and let each one finish before starting the next. Leave the COD Mobile Smart Tool installed, you need it later.
Check: none of those three are in the list any more.
Delete the folders left behind
Uninstalling leaves the old Android system files and settings on your PC. The new build will try to use them, so they have to go.
First make hidden folders visible. Open File Explorer, click View, then Show, then tick Hidden items.
Now go to each place below and delete any folder with these names. You will not have all of them, that is normal. Delete the ones you find.
C:\Program Files: delete TxGameAssistant and Tencent.
C:\Program Files (x86): delete TxGameAssistant and Tencent.
C:\ProgramData: delete Tencent.
%LOCALAPPDATA%: delete Tencent and TxGameAssistant.
%APPDATA%: delete Tencent, TxGameAssistant and AndroidTbox.
Your Documents folder: delete Tencent Files.
For the last three, copy %LOCALAPPDATA% or %APPDATA% into the address bar at the top of File Explorer and press Enter. Windows takes you straight there.
The important one is C:\Program Files\TxGameAssistant. It holds the entire old Android system, and leaving it behind causes more trouble than everything else put together.
If Windows says a folder is in use, GameLoop is still running. Go back to step 1.
Leave your own tools alone. Anything with GameLoopHub, EmuDesk or Smart Tool in the name is not a leftover.
Check: go back through the list and confirm none of those folders are there any more.
Empty the temp folders
Windows keeps a scratch folder full of old install files, and the new installer can pick them up. GameLoop leaves several of its own folders there, including Tencent, AndroidEmulator, TInst, gbus_cgsdk and GameDownloadLog.
Hold the Windows key and press R.
Type %temp% and press Enter.
Press Ctrl and A to select everything, then press Delete.
Click Skip if Windows says some files are in use. Those do not matter.
Do it again, this time typing temp instead of %temp%.
Delete the leftover registry entries
The registry is where Windows keeps settings. GameLoop leaves entries there that can make the next install fail.
If you use WeChat or QQ on this PC, skip this step. They share the same entries.
Hold the Windows key and press R, type regedit, press Enter, then click Yes.
In the left panel open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE. If there is a folder called Tencent, right click it and choose Delete.
Still under SOFTWARE, open WOW6432Node and delete Tencent there too.
Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then Software, and delete Tencent.
Close the window. Only delete folders named Tencent and do not touch anything else in there.
Get Windows ready, then restart
Two Windows settings stop the emulator from starting. Change both now.
Turn on virtualization. This is what lets your PC run Android. Restart your PC and press Delete or F2 while it boots to open BIOS. Find Intel VT-x, or SVM Mode if you have an AMD processor, usually under Advanced then CPU Configuration. Turn it on, save and exit.
Turn off Core Isolation. Press the Windows key, type Core isolation, open it, and switch Memory integrity off.
Restart your PC again afterwards even if Windows does not ask. That restart clears the last of the old files.
Check: open Task Manager, click Performance, then CPU. It should say Virtualization: Enabled. If it says Disabled, the BIOS setting did not save and nothing after this will work.
Download and Install the beta
Download and run new Gameloop Beta installer and do not change where it installs.
If your antivirus warns you about the file, that is the false alarm every emulator sets off. Allow it, as long as you downloaded it from GameLoop's own download link.
Check: the emulator opens to its home screen with no error message.
Set up the emulator
Open the emulator and let it finish setting itself up before you click anything. Then open the settings and change these four things.
Renderer: choose Vulkan. If you get a black screen later, come back and choose OpenGL instead.
Resolution: 1920x1080 reccommended.
CPU and memory: give it about half of what your PC has or select recommended. Giving it everything makes the game stutter more, not less.
Frame rate: pick the number that matches your monitor, up to 120.
Close and reopen the emulator after changing the renderer.
Check: it reopens normally with your new settings.
Update COD Mobile to 1.0.57
Read this step twice. It is where most people go wrong.
The beta comes with Call of Duty: Mobile version 1.0.56 already installed. The real game is on 1.0.57. If you just press play, you are running an old version the servers no longer accept, and that is what makes the keymap look broken. You have to update the game first, through the Play Store, inside the emulator.
Open the COD Mobile Smart Tool.
Click the Play Store button in the tool. It opens the Play Store inside the emulator for you.
Sign in with your Google account.
Find Call of Duty: Mobile, in search or under My apps, and press Update.
Wait for the whole download to finish. It is a big one, so leave it alone until it is done.
When the button changes from Update to Open, close the Play Store. Do not press Open.
Start Call of Duty: Mobile from the emulator, the way you normally would.
Done in this order, Smart Keymap loads by itself and works perfectly, with nothing to set up by hand.
Check: you reach the lobby and your keys work in a practice match before you change anything.
Change these game settings
Set graphics quality to Medium or Low and frame rate to Max or Ultra. Very High looks barely different on an emulator and costs you a lot of frames.
Turn off Depth of Field, Bloom, Ragdoll and Real Time Shadows.
Play one match before you change any keys. Make sure Smart Keymap is working first, then customise it if you want to.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to remove my old GameLoop before installing the beta?
Yes. Uninstalling leaves the old Android system files and settings on your PC, the new build picks them up, and you end up with problems that are not in the beta at all. Uninstall GameLoop and Tenstore Android Connect, then delete the leftover folders, temp files and registry entries in steps 3 to 5.
The game opens and then closes straight away. What is wrong?
Your game is still on version 1.0.56. The beta ships with that version and the servers are on 1.0.57. Go back to step 9, update Call of Duty: Mobile through the Play Store inside the emulator, then start the game from the emulator.
Smart Keymap loads but my keys do nothing. How do I fix it?
You started the game from inside the Play Store. Close everything and start Call of Duty: Mobile from the emulator instead. If it still does not work, check that the update in step 9 actually finished and the button said Open before you closed the Play Store.
Why do I get a black screen when the game starts?
That is the renderer. Open the emulator settings, switch Vulkan to OpenGL, and restart the emulator. Older graphics cards and some drivers do not get on with Vulkan.
Windows says a folder is in use and will not delete it. What now?
GameLoop is still running in the background. Open the COD Mobile Smart Tool and click Kill GameLoop, then try again. If it still refuses, restart your PC and delete the folder before you open anything else.
Is the new GameLoop beta stable enough to use every day?
It is a test version, so treat it as one. In our own testing it crashed once and worked fine otherwise, and Smart Keymap worked properly. Other people will see stuttering until the finished version is released, so keep that in mind if you need a setup you can rely on for scrims or recording.
