Cemu graphic packs not working — how to install and enable 4K, 60fps, and graphics mods for Wii U games
Cemu Graphic Packs are community-made mods that unlock higher resolutions (up to 8K), frame-rate caps (30fps → 60fps for BotW and other titles), shadow quality improvements, aspect ratio adjustments, and other visual enhancements for Wii U games. They are safe and widely used — the most popular is the Breath of the Wild 60fps + 4K resolution pack, used by the majority of Cemu players.
Graphic Packs work through Cemu's built-in mod loader and require no third-party tools. Common reasons they do not activate:
- Graphic Packs database not downloaded — Cemu does not ship with packs; you must download the community database through Cemu's built-in downloader or the official GitHub.
- Pack not enabled in the Graphic Packs menu — each pack must be individually toggled on; they are all off by default.
- Wrong game version or Title ID — some packs target a specific game update version. An out-of-date or non-standard game dump may not match.
- Resolution pack conflicts with Cemu's internal resolution — the in-game resolution pack and Cemu's own "Render resolution" setting can conflict if both are set.

Cemu has a built-in downloader that fetches the full community Graphic Packs database. This is the easiest way to get all packs including BotW 60fps, 4K resolution, and shadow quality packs.
- In Cemu, go to Options → Graphic Packs. The Graphic Packs window opens. If the list is empty, the database has not been downloaded yet.
- Click "Download latest community graphic packs" (or the download/refresh button in the top toolbar of the Graphic Packs window). Cemu will fetch the latest pack database from GitHub.
- Wait for the download to complete. The left-side tree will populate with categories for each game. Expand a game name to see its available packs.
- Find your game in the list — for example, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild → expand it to see packs like "FPS++", "Resolution", "Shadows", "Draw Distance".
- Enable packs by checking the checkboxes next to each one. For BotW, a typical setup: check FPS++ (Advanced Settings → 60FPS cap) + Resolution → 1080p or 4K + Shadows → High.
- Click "Save" and launch the game. The packs take effect immediately on next boot.
BotW 60fps note: FPS++ is the community-standard pack; it handles the physics engine modifications needed to run BotW above 30fps without causing bug. Do not just raise the frame limiter without FPS++ — the game physics break at >30fps without it.

If the in-app downloader fails or you have a specific pack from a community source, you can install packs manually by placing the files in Cemu's graphicPacks folder.
- Find your Cemu graphicPacks folder. In Cemu go to Options → General Settings → Paths and note the "MLC Path". The graphicPacks folder is typically at
[Cemu folder]\graphicPacks\(when using a portable install) or in the MLC path. You can also check via Options → Graphic Packs → Open graphic packs folder (the folder icon). - Each graphic pack is a subfolder containing a
rules.txtfile and one or more shader or patch files. Copy the pack's subfolder directly into the graphicPacks folder — do not flatten the folder structure. - Restart Cemu. The manually-installed pack will appear in Options → Graphic Packs under its game category.
- Enable the pack by checking its checkbox in the Graphic Packs window, then click Save.
The official community graphic packs GitHub (github.com/ActualMandM/cemu_graphic_packs) is the authoritative source. It is also what Cemu's built-in downloader fetches. Any pack from this repo is safe; treat packs from unknown sources with caution.
solution #1543
If you enabled a pack but the game still runs at 30fps, 480p, or without the visual enhancement, the pack may not be recognising your game version. This is the most common "it's not working" scenario.
- Check the game's update version. In Cemu's game list, right-click your game → Properties. Note the Title ID and the installed update version (e.g., BotW requires update 1.5.0 for most packs to work; older updates may not be compatible).
- Update the game to the latest supported version in Cemu. Install the update via File → Install game title/update → browse to your update file (NUS Dumper or Loadiine format).
- Re-download graphic packs to get the latest version. Go to Options → Graphic Packs → click the download/refresh button. Community packs are updated frequently when game patches change version strings.
- Do not set Cemu's own render resolution AND a Resolution graphic pack at the same time. In Options → General Settings → Graphics, if "Render Resolution" is set to 4K while a "4K Resolution" graphic pack is also active, they can conflict and produce incorrect output. Use one or the other — the graphic pack is usually more accurate for specific game compatibility.
- Disable conflicting packs. Some packs are mutually exclusive (e.g., two different FPS patches). Enable only one FPS pack at a time. Read the pack's description in the Graphic Packs window for compatibility notes.
solution #1544
Quick recommended starting configurations for the most popular Cemu titles. These are stable community-tested setups — enable each pack listed, leave others off unless you are experimenting.
- Zelda: Breath of the Wild — Enable: FPS++ → 60fps cap (required for stable 60fps physics) + Resolution → 1080p or 4K + Shadows → High-resolution shadows + Draw distance → High. Note: FPS++ requires a stable 60fps output — on slower hardware, cap at 30fps within FPS++ settings instead to avoid physics bugs from a fluctuating frame rate.
- Mario Kart 8 — Enable: Resolution → 4K or 1080p. Mario Kart 8 already runs at 60fps natively; no FPS pack needed. A "Remove 200cc speed wobble" pack is also available.
- Splatoon — Enable: Resolution → 4K or 1080p + 60fps pack. The 60fps pack for Splatoon is experimental — some modes may have audio desync. If audio drifts, cap at 30fps.
- Xenoblade Chronicles X — Enable: Resolution → 1080p + Remove blur/anti-aliasing. The game already runs at 30fps by design; no FPS pack is stable for XCX.
- Bayonetta 2 — Enable: Resolution → 4K. Runs at 60fps natively; no FPS pack needed.
After changing graphic packs, always test with a short gameplay session before committing to a long play — some packs can cause crashes or physics oddities that only appear after several minutes of play.
