CODM S7 Terminated Battle Royale Lockdown mode not available or crashing on GameLoop PC

High5 solutions

Battle Royale: Lockdown mode in CODM Season 7 Terminated is greyed out, missing from the mode selection screen, or crashes immediately when you attempt to start a match on GameLoop PC.

Common versions of this problem:

  • Lockdown mode does not appear in the Battle Royale mode list — the game may not have downloaded the required mode data yet; a full update download is needed
  • Lockdown mode is visible but greyed out with a lock icon — may indicate a pending game update or regional rollout not yet live in your region
  • Game crashes to desktop when loading into a Lockdown match — the mode's assets require more RAM than is allocated to the GameLoop emulator by default
  • Lockdown appears in the lobby but teams cannot fill — "waiting for players" indefinitely — matchmaking pool is thin in your region immediately after launch; try off-peak hours or switch to a higher-traffic server region
  • Lockdown match loads partially then freezes on the loading screen — incomplete local game data from a partial update download; a resource pack re-download is needed

Why this happens: Battle Royale: Lockdown is a Limited Time Mode (LTM) introduced in S7 Terminated that uses separate map and mode asset packages not included in the base CODM installation. On GameLoop PC, these packages are downloaded via the CODM in-app update system (not the GameLoop launcher), and if the download was interrupted or skipped, the mode appears greyed out or crashes on load. New LTMs also have a staggered regional rollout in the first 24–48 hours after season launch, meaning players in some regions may see the mode available later than players in others.

Work through these fixes in order. Step 1 resolves most "missing or greyed out" cases.

download-pending-game-updates-inside-codm (sortOrder=1, isMostHelpful)

Battle Royale: Lockdown requires additional resource packs that must be downloaded from within CODM itself, separate from the GameLoop launcher update.

  1. Launch CODM from GameLoop and wait for the initial loading screen to complete.
  2. If a download notification or Resource Download prompt appears, accept it and allow all updates to complete fully (do not minimize GameLoop during the download).
  3. If no automatic prompt appears: go to Settings (gear icon) → About → Resource Download. Check whether any resource packs show as Not Downloaded or show a download size. Download all pending packs.
  4. After all resource packs are downloaded, return to the Battle Royale mode selection screen and check whether Lockdown is now available.
  5. If Lockdown is still greyed out after all resources are downloaded: proceed to Step 2 for a regional availability check.

Why this works: CODM separates its core game files (installed via GameLoop) from mode-specific resource packs (downloaded in-app on demand). Battle Royale: Lockdown and other LTMs ship as separate asset bundles to reduce the base install size. Players who launched CODM immediately after the S7 update on August 5 may have skipped or had interrupted resource downloads, leaving the Lockdown assets incomplete and the mode unavailable.

wait-for-regional-rollout-and-verify-server-region (sortOrder=2)

If Lockdown mode shows as greyed out or locked despite completed game updates, it may be in a staggered rollout for your server region. Switching to a higher-traffic region can unlock access earlier.

  1. In CODM, go to Settings → Account → Server Region. Note your current region.
  2. Try switching to a nearby region with a larger player base (e.g., from a local regional server to Asia, Middle East, or Europe as appropriate for your location).
  3. Return to the Battle Royale mode list and check if Lockdown is available in the new region.
  4. Note: switching server regions will affect your matchmaking pool and may increase ping. Switch back to your home region once the mode is fully live there (typically within 48–72 hours of season launch).
  5. If the mode is available on mobile but not on GameLoop PC for the same account: this confirms a PC-specific update or resource pack issue — proceed to Step 3.

Why this works: Tencent rolls out new LTM content in waves by server region to manage launch-day server load. Players in smaller or less-prioritized regions may have a 24–48 hour delay before a new mode appears. High-traffic regions (Asia, Middle East) typically get LTM access first. Temporarily switching regions bypasses the rollout delay for that region's servers.

increase-gameloop-memory-allocation-for-battle-royale (sortOrder=3)

If Lockdown mode crashes immediately on load, GameLoop may not have enough RAM allocated to load the mode's expanded asset set. Increasing the memory allocation resolves the majority of LTM crash-on-load reports.

  1. Close CODM and return to the GameLoop launcher.
  2. Go to GameLoop Settings (gear icon in top-right) → Engine Settings → Memory.
  3. Set the memory allocation to at least 4 GB (4096 MB). If your PC has 16 GB or more RAM, set it to 6 GB for full-quality Battle Royale with no asset streaming gaps.
  4. Click Apply and restart GameLoop completely.
  5. Relaunch CODM and attempt to load a Lockdown match. The crash should not recur at the higher memory allocation.

Why this works: Battle Royale: Lockdown uses an expanded version of the standard BR map with additional zone mechanics and asset overlays. These require more working memory than standard BR or Multiplayer modes. GameLoop defaults to a conservative memory allocation to support a wide range of PC hardware, but this default is often insufficient for Lockdown's full asset set, causing a crash when the mode tries to allocate more than GameLoop's cap allows. Increasing the GameLoop memory cap gives CODM the headroom it needs to load the mode without crashing.

repair-codm-game-files-to-fix-incomplete-asset-downloads (sortOrder=4)

If Lockdown mode freezes on the loading screen or shows graphical corruption during load, the mode's asset files may be incomplete or corrupt from a partial download. Use CODM's built-in repair function to re-download only the affected files.

  1. In CODM, go to Settings (gear icon) → About → File Repair.
  2. Tap Start Repair. CODM will scan all installed game files and compare them against the current version checksums.
  3. Any files that are corrupt, missing, or incomplete will be re-downloaded automatically. This may take 5–20 minutes depending on how many files need repair and your internet speed.
  4. After repair completes, restart CODM and attempt to load Lockdown again.

Why this works: The S7 update on August 5 was a large download that included Lockdown assets, the Terminator 2 collaboration content, and the new Cronen Squall weapon files. Network interruptions during download can leave files partially written — they pass the file-size check but contain corrupt data that causes crashes during level load. The repair function uses checksums to find these corrupt files and replace only them, avoiding a full reinstall.

solution #1834

reinstall-codm-if-lockdown-remains-unavailable-after-all-fixes (sortOrder=5)

If Lockdown mode remains unavailable or crashes after completing all prior steps, a clean reinstall of CODM through GameLoop will resolve any persistent file-level issues.

  1. In the GameLoop launcher, go to My Games → find Call of Duty Mobile → click the three-dot menu (⋮) → Uninstall.
  2. After uninstalling, go to the GameLoop app store and reinstall CODM fresh.
  3. Launch CODM after installation and complete any initial resource pack downloads it prompts for before attempting to access Lockdown mode.
  4. Note: a reinstall does not affect your CODM account data, progress, or purchased items — these are stored server-side on your Activision/Tencent account, not locally.

Why this works: A clean reinstall guarantees that all game files, including the Lockdown mode asset bundle, are downloaded fresh from Tencent's CDN without any corruption from the previous installation. After reinstall, the resource pack download on first launch will include all S7 content including Lockdown, resolving file-level issues that persist through repair.
