CODM S7 Terminated ranked season reset or new rank not showing on GameLoop PC
After Season 7 Terminated launched, your ranked mode shows an unexpected rank — either your Season 6 rank is still displayed instead of the reset rank, or your new rank appears much lower than you expected and you believe something went wrong on GameLoop PC.
Common forms of this issue:
- Ranked mode still shows your exact Season 6 rank with no reset — normal display on first login; S7 ranked mode may not have fully synced yet; a CODM restart resolves the display
- New rank is much lower than Season 6 rank (e.g., was Legendary, now showing Master or Grandmaster) — this is intended behavior; CODM applies a "soft reset" each season that drops top players by 2–4 tiers to prevent permanent rank inflation; it is not a bug
- Ranked mode is locked and showing "Placement Matches" required — S7 ranked placement is required to establish your S7 rank; this is standard for every new season
- Ranked mode unavailable — showing "Coming Soon" or greyed out — S7 ranked may launch 1–2 weeks after the season starts; casual play is available immediately; ranked is unlocked on Tencent's schedule, not tied to GameLoop
- Rank badge displayed on profile page does not match ranked lobby rank — the profile badge can take 24 hours to update after a season reset; the ranked lobby rank is accurate; the profile badge is cosmetic display and resolves on its own
Why this happens: CODM uses a deliberate rank reset mechanism at each season boundary — not a full reset to zero, but a "soft reset" or "rank decay" that drops players a defined number of tiers from their previous season peak. For example, a Legendary player may begin S7 at Grand Master V or Master I depending on their exact previous standing. This is documented in CODM's ranked mode FAQ but surprises many players who see a significantly lower rank and assume a technical error. GameLoop PC does not interact with ranked matchmaking in any special way — the rank display comes entirely from Tencent's ranked servers.
Work through these fixes in order.
Solutions
solution #1800
The most common "ranked reset bug" report is actually expected behavior: CODM applies a partial rank decay every season, dropping top players by 2–4 tiers. This is not a bug and does not require a fix.
- Open CODM and go to Ranked Mode → Ranked Info → Season Reset Info (accessible from the ranked mode lobby before placement).
- Review the reset table for your S6 rank tier. The table shows exactly which S7 starting rank corresponds to your S6 ending rank.
- Common S7 reset examples (approximate):
- Legendary → reset to Grand Master V or Master I (depending on star count at season end)
- Grand Master → reset to Master tier
- Master → reset to Elite or Veteran tier
- Elite / Veteran → soft reset within same band or one tier lower
- Pro and below → minimal or no reset
- If your new starting rank matches the reset table: there is nothing wrong. Begin S7 placement matches to confirm your rank placement for this season.
- If your starting rank is significantly lower than the reset table shows it should be: proceed to Step 2 to rule out a display error.
Why this works: Rank reset is a competitive balance mechanic — without it, top players would accumulate rank indefinitely across seasons and the ladder would inflate to the point where new players can never reach high tiers. The soft reset compresses the top of the ladder and creates competitive re-ranking opportunities for all players at each season start. Understanding the reset table resolves the vast majority of ranked-not-working reports without any technical intervention.
solution #1801
If your ranked mode still shows your exact S6 rank with no reset applied, or shows incorrect data immediately after S7 launched, restart CODM inside GameLoop to force a fresh rank sync.
- Close CODM completely inside GameLoop (fully exit, not minimize).
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Relaunch CODM from the GameLoop library and let the full lobby load sequence complete.
- Navigate to Ranked Mode. Your S7 starting rank (post-reset) should now display correctly.
- If ranked mode is still showing S6 data after a restart: this is likely a server-side propagation delay during launch day. Wait 1–2 hours and check again — Tencent applies season resets in waves during the transition window.
Why this works: The season reset is applied server-side at a specific UTC timestamp at the season boundary. If you were logged in during the reset window, your local CODM client may still be displaying the cached S6 rank state. A restart fetches your updated rank from the server, reflecting the applied reset.
solution #1802
If ranked mode shows "Placement Matches required" before you can see your S7 rank, this is standard — you must complete the required placement matches to confirm your rank for the new season.
- In CODM, go to Ranked Mode. If you see a "Placement Matches" prompt, tap it to begin.
- S7 requires completing a set number of placement matches (typically 5) before your new ranked tier is confirmed. Your performance in these matches influences your exact starting tier within the reset band.
- Complete all placement matches in full (do not quit early — forfeiting placement matches counts as a loss and can lower your starting tier).
- After all placements complete, your S7 rank will be confirmed and the full ranked ladder becomes accessible.
Why this works: Placement matches are CODM's calibration mechanism at each season start — rather than assigning your rank directly from the reset table, they use your current performance to fine-tune placement within the reset tier band. Strong performance in placements can result in starting at a higher tier within your band; losses result in starting at the lower end.
solution #1803
If ranked mode is completely unavailable (greyed out or showing "Coming Soon") after S7 launched, ranked may not have gone live in your region yet — this is a Tencent schedule decision, not a GameLoop issue.
- In CODM, tap Ranked Mode. If it shows a launch countdown timer or a "Coming Soon" message, note the date and time shown.
- S7 ranked mode commonly launches 1–2 weeks after the season starts to allow casual players to experience new content before the competitive ladder activates. The exact date varies by region.
- Casual multiplayer and BR are always available from Season launch day. Only ranked is delayed.
- Check the official CODM social channels (Instagram, Twitter) or in-game News section for the exact S7 ranked launch date for your region.
- No action is needed on GameLoop — this is a server-side availability flag from Tencent that applies to all platforms equally.
Why this works: Tencent staggers ranked mode availability to manage server load and give the casual player base time to learn the new season's content before competitive matchmaking begins. This is a deliberate schedule, not a technical failure. Players who expect ranked to be immediately available on season day one encounter this consistently each new season.
solution #1804
If your S7 starting rank is significantly lower than the official reset table shows it should be, and a CODM restart did not correct it, file a support ticket with your S6 end-of-season rank screenshot.
- Before S7 launched, CODM displayed your end-of-season S6 rank and rewards. If you took a screenshot of your final S6 rank, have it ready.
- Go to support.codm.activision.com or tap Settings → Customer Service → Submit a Ticket from within CODM.
- Select Ranked Mode Issue → Incorrect Rank After Season Reset as the ticket category.
- Include: your in-game name, your expected starting rank (per the reset table), your actual current starting rank, and the screenshot of your S6 final rank if available.
- Tencent's support team handles ranked correction tickets within 3–7 business days. Do not attempt to rank up on the incorrect starting rank while the ticket is open — your rank history is logged server-side and can be corrected.
Why this works: On rare occasions, the reset calculation mis-applies for specific accounts — typically accounts that changed tiers in the final hour of the season during the reset processing window. Tencent can correct these manually using the server-side rank log. Filing the ticket with supporting evidence is the only resolution path; GameLoop cannot intervene in ranked calculations as these are entirely Tencent server-side.
