CODM S7 Terminated squad invite or friend invitation not working on GameLoop PC

Medium5 solutions

During CODM Season 7 Terminated on GameLoop PC, squad invites fail to send, friend invitations show as sent but are never received, or your party lobby shows missing slots that cannot be filled.

Common forms of this issue:

  • Squad invite sent but friend says they never received it — server-side invite delivery failure; common in first 48 hours of a new season when Tencent's invite relay is under heavy load
  • Cannot send a friend request — "Request failed" or no confirmation — friend list service is experiencing load or your account's friend list is at capacity (200 max)
  • Party lobby shows 5/5 but match starts as 4/5 — one player silently dropped — squad member connection dropped during lobby formation; GameLoop PC session is more likely to timeout than mobile during a slow lobby fill
  • Friend appears offline in CODM but is clearly online and in a match — online status display is cached and may show stale presence data; does not always reflect real-time status
  • Cannot invite friends who are on mobile to your GameLoop PC squad — cross-platform squad is supported in CODM but requires both players to be in the same region server; a region mismatch blocks the invite silently

Why this happens: CODM's social and matchmaking systems (friend list, squad invites, presence data) are all server-side and are the first services to experience congestion when a new season launches — potentially millions of players log in within the first 24 hours. Invite relay failures during this window are temporary and typically resolve within 1–2 hours without any fix required. The cross-platform invite limitation is a permanent platform behavior: PC emulator players and mobile players can play together, but only when matched to the same regional server cluster, which is handled by the game automatically but can fail if one player has manually changed their region.

Work through these fixes in order.

wait-and-retry-during-s7-launch-window (sortOrder=1, isMostHelpful)

If this started immediately after S7 launched (first 24–48 hours), squad invite failures are very likely temporary server overload — not a configuration problem. Waiting 30–60 minutes and retrying resolves most cases without any changes needed.

  1. Note the time when the invite failure started. If it began within 12 hours of the S7 season going live, this is almost certainly server load.
  2. Wait 30–60 minutes. Do not repeatedly retry invites during this window — repeated failed invite requests can temporarily flag your account's invite activity as suspicious and slow further processing.
  3. After waiting, close CODM completely and relaunch from GameLoop. This forces a fresh session token that re-registers you with the invite relay service.
  4. Send one test invite to a friend and wait up to 2 minutes for it to appear on their end. Server load slows invite delivery but usually does not drop it entirely.
  5. If invites are still failing after 2+ hours, proceed to Step 2 — the issue may be account-specific rather than server-wide.

Why this works: CODM's social services are separate from matchmaking. During a season launch, Tencent prioritizes matchmaking server capacity; social relay (friend status, invites) is lower priority and queues under load. The congestion clears naturally as the launch surge subsides, typically within 2–6 hours of the season going live.

check-friend-list-capacity-and-remove-inactive-friends (sortOrder=2)

CODM caps friend lists at 200. If your list is at or near the limit, new friend requests cannot be sent or received, and invite delivery can degrade because the system de-prioritizes full-list accounts.

  1. In CODM, tap Friends → Friend List.
  2. Check the count displayed (e.g., "198/200 friends"). If you are at or above 190, the list is effectively full for practical purposes.
  3. Scroll the friend list and look for players with long inactivity (no recent last-seen timestamps or accounts that never appear online). Tap their name → Remove Friend.
  4. Remove enough entries to get below 180 friends.
  5. Retry the failed friend request or squad invite. With list space freed, the delivery queue processes normally.

Why this works: The 200-friend cap is enforced server-side. When a list is at capacity, outgoing friend requests silently fail on the sender's end (no error is shown in all game versions). Clearing inactive entries is the only resolution — there is no way to increase the cap.

solution #1812

verify-both-players-are-on-the-same-codm-region-server (sortOrder=3)

If you are trying to invite a friend who is on mobile (or a different PC) and the invite never appears, a region server mismatch is likely — CODM only allows squads within the same regional cluster.

  1. In CODM, tap Settings → Basic → Region and note your current region (e.g., Asia, North America, Europe).
  2. Ask your friend to check their region setting using the same path.
  3. If you are on different regions: one player must change their region to match. Tap the region name and select the same region as your friend.
  4. Both players should restart CODM after the region change. Region changes take effect on the next login, not immediately.
  5. Try the squad invite again. With matching regions, the invite delivers immediately if there are no server issues.

Why this works: CODM's matchmaking and social systems are partitioned by region. A player registered on the Asia server cannot directly squad with a player on the North America server — the invite is accepted locally but silently rejected by the server-side squad formation system because the two players exist in separate server pools. This is the most common reason cross-device invites fail silently.

solution #1813

restart-codm-and-gameloop-to-clear-stale-session (sortOrder=4)

A CODM session that has been running for more than 2–3 hours can accumulate stale presence data and session tokens that cause invite and squad functions to fail silently.

  1. Close CODM completely (do not just minimize — fully exit to the GameLoop home screen).
  2. Close GameLoop as well (right-click in taskbar → Quit, or use the X button and confirm exit).
  3. Wait 30 seconds, then reopen GameLoop and relaunch CODM.
  4. Log back in and wait for the CODM lobby to fully load (all icons and buttons populated — approximately 30–60 seconds after login).
  5. Retry sending the squad invite or friend request. Fresh session tokens reinitialize your social connections and usually restore invite functionality.

Why this works: CODM's social system uses short-lived session tokens that need periodic refreshing. In long-running sessions (especially on PC where GameLoop may stay open for many hours), these tokens can expire or become invalid without triggering a visible login prompt — the game continues working for matchmaking but fails silently on social functions that require a fresh token for delivery.

solution #1814

use-in-game-invite-link-instead-of-direct-friend-invite (sortOrder=5)

If direct friend-list invites are persistently failing, use CODM's party invite link as a workaround — the link bypasses the friend-list invite relay and delivers a join code directly.

  1. Open CODM and create or enter your party lobby (tap your avatar → Party → Create Party).
  2. In the party lobby screen, tap the Share or Invite Link button (icon with an arrow or chain link). This generates a time-limited join code or shareable URL.
  3. Copy the invite link and send it to your friend via an outside channel (WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord DM — any messaging app).
  4. Your friend taps the link on their device. On mobile, it opens CODM directly to the party join prompt. On GameLoop PC, they may need to open CODM first and then tap the received link through a notification.
  5. Once they join via the link, the party functions normally. This method works even when the friend-list invite relay is completely down.

Why this works: CODM's invite link uses a different backend pathway than the friend-list notification system — it generates a joinable lobby token rather than sending a push notification through the social relay. During server overload or relay failures, the token-based join works when push notifications do not, because the joining player's game client fetches the lobby state directly using the code rather than waiting for a server-pushed invite.
