CODM Season 7 Terminated: Storage Space Requirements on GameLoop PC (2026)

Low4 solutions

How much storage space does CODM Season 7 Terminated require on PC via GameLoop/TAC? I'm trying to figure out if I have enough space before the S7 update starts, or the update failed partway through because my drive ran out of room.

CODM Season 7 Terminated storage requirements (measured post-install on PC):

  • CODM game files (S7 post-update): ~25–30 GB
  • Tencent App Center (TAC) itself: ~800 MB
  • S7 update patch download (temporary, deleted after install): ~2–4 GB
  • Peak space needed during update: ~34 GB (existing install + patch download + extraction buffer)

Recommended free space before updating: At least 10 GB free on the drive where CODM is installed, even if CODM is already installed. The patch extractor needs temporary space beyond the final file size.

To check how much space you have: open File Explorer → This PC → look at the drive bar under your C: (or whichever drive has CODM). If less than 10 GB free, free space before updating.

If your drive is too full to accept the S7 update, free space without touching CODM data:

  1. Disk Cleanup: Windows search → "Disk Cleanup" → select your C: drive → check Temporary files, Recycle Bin, Windows Update Cleanup → OK. This is safe and often frees 2–10 GB.
  2. TAC download cache: In TAC → Settings → Storage → Clear Cache. Removes partial/failed downloads. Your installed games are untouched.
  3. Windows temp folder: Press Win+R, type %temp%, press Enter. Select all (Ctrl+A), delete. Skip any files that show "in use" — click Continue.
  4. Old GameLoop (classic v1.x): If the old GameLoop is installed alongside TAC, uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs — it no longer receives CODM updates and takes 2–8 GB.
  5. Move other large games: If other large games (Steam, Epic, etc.) are on the same drive, consider moving them to a secondary drive to clear room temporarily.

If your C: drive will always be tight, moving CODM to a secondary drive (HDD or SSD) is the permanent fix:

  1. In TAC, go to Settings → Storage → Move Game Data.
  2. Select CODM → choose your target drive (e.g., D:) → Move. TAC handles the transfer — do not close it mid-transfer.
  3. After moving, verify in TAC that CODM launches correctly from the new location. First launch may re-run shader compilation from the new drive path.

HDD vs SSD: CODM can run from an HDD, but shader compilation on S7 launch day will take significantly longer (10–40 minutes vs 3–8 minutes on SSD). If you have any SSD space available, prefer it for CODM.

If the S7 update fails mid-way with a "Not enough disk space" or "Installation failed" error:

  1. Do not uninstall CODM — your in-game progress is stored server-side, but reinstalling means re-downloading 25+ GB.
  2. Close TAC completely (Task Manager → kill TAC.exe).
  3. Free up at least 6–8 GB using the methods in Solution 2 above.
  4. Reopen TAC and retry the update. TAC resumes interrupted downloads from the last good checkpoint — it does not restart from 0%.
  5. If TAC shows a "Verification failed" error after freeing space: TAC → Settings → Repair (scans and re-downloads only the corrupted or missing files, which is faster than a full reinstall).

If the update fails repeatedly even with sufficient disk space, the issue is likely a corrupted patch download or an AV intercepting the extraction. Temporarily disable real-time protection in your antivirus, add the TAC folder to exclusions, and retry.
