RPCS3 DLC Not Showing — How to Install PS3 DLC and Add-On Content
I installed a game in RPCS3 but the DLC I own isn't showing up. The add-on content packs don't appear in-game, or RPCS3 doesn't recognize them at all. How do I properly install PS3 DLC — both disc-based add-ons and PSN-purchased content — in RPCS3?

PS3 DLC in RPCS3 is installed via PKG files — the same format as PS3 game installs. The process is:
Step 1: Get the DLC PKG file
The DLC must be dumped from your own PS3 using PS3Dec or Multiman (if your PS3 is jailbroken), or extracted from a PS3 backup that you made. DLC purchased on PSN is stored on your PS3 as a PKG in /dev_hdd0/packages/ or installed to /dev_hdd0/game/[TITLE_ID]/.
- Physical disc extras (e.g., costume packs, map packs that shipped on a disc) can be extracted using PS3Dec or similar tools.
- DLC that came as a separate download from PSN has its own PKG file — copy the .pkg from your PS3's package folder.
Step 2: Install via RPCS3 Package Manager
- Open RPCS3.
- Go to File → Install Packages/Raps/Edats.
- Select the DLC
.pkgfile. - RPCS3 installs it to its virtual HDD:
RPCS3\dev_hdd0\game\[TITLE_ID]\. The game picks it up from there on next launch.
If DLC still doesn't show in-game after installation:
- Check you're installing DLC for the correct region version of the game. US DLC only works with US game Title IDs (e.g., BLUS-XXXXX), EU DLC with EU versions (BLES-XXXXX). Mixing regions is the most common cause of "DLC installed but not appearing."
- Launch the game after installation — DLC is not reflected in the RPCS3 game list, only inside the running game.

PSN-purchased DLC requires an activation file (.rap) to unlock the content. Without it, the DLC PKG installs but is treated as locked or demo content.
What is a RAP file?
A .rap file (Rights Activation Package) is a license file that tells the PS3 the content is legitimately purchased for that console. In RPCS3, RAP files must be present for DLC (and some full PSN games) to work correctly.
How to get your RAP files legally:
- If your PS3 is jailbroken, you can extract your own RAP files using PSN Liberator or Multiman from your account's
/dev_hdd0/exdata/folder. These RAP files are tied to your PSN account and are legally yours. - RAP files are typically named after the content ID (a long alphanumeric string matching the DLC ID) with a .rap extension.
Install RAP files in RPCS3:
- Go to File → Install Packages/Raps/Edats.
- Select your
.rapfile (you can install multiple at once by holding Ctrl and selecting several). - RPCS3 copies them to
RPCS3\dev_hdd0\home\00000001\exdata\. - Reinstall the DLC PKG if you already installed it — the RAP validation happens during PKG installation in some RPCS3 builds. After installing the RAP, re-run the PKG install to ensure it's now treated as activated.
Confirming DLC is active:
- Inside RPCS3: right-click the game → Check Game Update → if you see DLC entries listed, they are recognized.
- Alternatively:
RPCS3/dev_hdd0/game/[TITLE_ID]/should contain subfolders for each DLC pack alongside the base game files.

Some games have additional requirements beyond the PKG + RAP installation:
Games with online-activation requirements (PS3 Online Pass):
- Some PS3 games required an "Online Pass" redeemed on PSN for multiplayer access. These passes can be installed via PKG + RAP, but some have additional server-side checks that RPCS3's PSN integration does not fully replicate.
- If the pass installs but the game still requires activation, look for a community workaround — many Online Pass issues have been documented in the RPCS3 GitHub issues or per-game compatibility notes.
DLC requiring a specific game version:
- Some DLC was designed for a later patch of the PS3 game. If you're running game version 1.00 but the DLC was released for version 1.05, the DLC may not load correctly.
- Install the matching game update first: File → Install Packages/Raps/Edats → select the game update .pkg (usually named after the Title ID with an "UP" or update suffix).
Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and music game DLC:
- These games have hundreds of individual DLC track files. Each track is a separate PKG. Install them all via File → Install Packages, selecting all track PKGs at once.
- Song DLC in Rock Band and Guitar Hero also requires the corresponding RAP files per track for full activation in some RPCS3 builds.
Checking installed content inside RPCS3:
- Right-click the game in the RPCS3 library → Show in Explorer. Navigate into
dev_hdd0/game/[TITLE_ID]/. Each DLC pack should appear as a subfolder (e.g.,game/BLUS12345/GAME/,game/BLUS12345/DLC1/,game/BLUS12345/DLC2/). - If the subfolder exists, RPCS3 sees the DLC. If the game still doesn't load it, the issue is game-side (wrong region, missing RAP, or a game-specific DLC menu that requires network activation).
solution #1331
Some PS3 DLC was distributed as .edat files instead of PKG files — notably music DLC packs and some early PSN content. These work differently:
EDAT installation in RPCS3:
- File → Install Packages/Raps/Edats → select the .edat file.
- RPCS3 places them in
dev_hdd0/game/[TITLE_ID]/USRDIR/or a content subfolder — the exact path depends on the game.
EDAT requires a matching EDAT key:
- Like RAP files for PKG DLC, EDAT files have an encryption key. The key for your own legitimately dumped EDAT files should be embedded or available via the dump process from your own PS3.
- If RPCS3 reports an EDAT decryption error, the key file is missing or the EDAT is for a different region's account.
Game-specific paths to check: Look up your specific game on the RPCS3 compatibility list — the per-game page often has community notes about DLC installation quirks and which DLC packs are confirmed working.
