Can't find where to edit or add keys in the Smart Tool keymap — editor layout changed
The edit entry point moved in a recent Smart Tool update — it's now a link attached to each keymap profile, not a top-level menu. Click the edit link next to your keymap profile, right-click anywhere on the editing screen to place a control, assign your key, and save.
You want to change an existing key, add a new on-screen control, or bind a specific action (for example, a button to mark or ping for teammates). You knew how the old keymap editor worked, but after a recent Smart Tool update the keymap section was reorganized and the controls aren't where they used to be — it looks like editing has been removed.
Cause: Editing isn't gone — the entry point moved. The new layout opens the editor from an edit link attached to each keymap profile, rather than from the old top-level menu. Once you know where that link is, the assign-a-key flow is unchanged: right-click the position on screen, pick the key. Both editing existing keys and adding new ones work through this same path.
Not this issue? If your aim snaps or the cursor escapes the screen mid-fight, see Aim snaps / cursor breaks free (CTRL mouse-lock bug). If CODM won't launch at all on classic GameLoop, see CoD Mobile won't launch on GameLoop — TAC/TAS fix.
Solutions
solution #1453
Open the keymap editor via the edit link next to your profile, then right-click to place and assign keys.
- Find your keymap profile in the Smart Tool keymap section.
- Click the edit link next to that profile. This opens the editing screen — the redesigned editor.
- On the editing screen, right-click anywhere on the screen at the position where you want to place the control.
- Assign the key you want to that position.
- Save your changes.
That's the full flow: edit link → editing screen → right-click position → assign key → save. You can both edit existing keys and add brand-new controls through this same path.
solution #1454
Still can't trigger an action after binding (for example, "mark for teammates" still does nothing)? A keymap bind only works if the in-game button you're binding to actually exists on your HUD. If after saving the bind the action still doesn't fire, the missing piece is on the game side:
- Inside CODM, open Settings → HUD / Custom Layout.
- Confirm the button you're trying to bind (e.g. the Marker / Ping button) is present on your HUD layout and large enough to register a tap.
- Drag it onto the screen if it's hidden, then return to Smart Tool and your bind should now fire.
Most users won't need this — the keymap edit in S1 is usually enough. This step only applies when the button exists in the keymap but the in-game action still doesn't trigger.
